Today I was asked 'Do we all have to become princesses when we get married Jessica? Because I really don't want to be one you know...' This proves once and for all that watching Barbie and the Nutcracker on repeat is definitely not good for young children and simply fills their heads with horrors such as these...!

However, not long after I was asked in public to look at one of my childrens 'baby nipples' as she put it, this wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't then asked to see mine and made a grab at my top... Fortunately I saved my dignity just in time but it was a close one! I am not sure what to blame this latest escapade on? Perhaps just no more TV at all...

Yesterday I caught Amelie engrossed in sniffing something which she simply described as 'yummy' when questioned,  unfortunately it turned out to be Harrys scented diaper bag! It did in fact contain a dirty nappy and poor Amelie was so horrified when she found out that the nice smell was just masking the poo!

They do make me giggle...!

So todays anecdote from the kids has to be from my 4 year old when she was getting changed in the company of friends...

'Eduardo go away, we are not in love so you can't see my panties'

Hehe you have to love children.

Ok so I know I am slacking on here already, which is not good! But in my defense small children are HARD work! I have had a good couple of days though, Tuesdays was the girls last day of Tennis and I was most amused at the other kids who had appeared... Living up to the true American stereotype I am sure that one of the boys was definitely as wide as he was tall. The others just totally ran riot while the poor coach attempted to 'teach' 4-6 years olds how to hit the ball!

Harry also carried on with his new 'mine' phase, and again assured me his penis was in fact his own each time I changed his nappy. I am glad he is so certain of that, at least for now...!

Today I had a great day taking all the kids to the zoo. Though I have a feeling I enjoyed it more than they did as whenever they were asked their favourite part all they could remember was 'ICE CREAM', probably not surprising I suppose cosidering their ages... Still I think we all had a lot of fun and great weather too so can't really complain :-) There are definitely jobs that are a lot worse than mine and I am very grateful for the one I have!

Just a quick one today as I need to get some sleep before beginning another week of looking after small children with FAR too much energy...! However I felt it must be mentioned that I finally made it into the city today and had a good time exploring. Managed to see the White House (though was disgusted at how far away they make you stand!) and walk all the way up and down The Mall just soaking in all of the DC-ness. I think its also worth noting the distinct difference in the friendliness of Americans Vs the English. Not only in shops but on the streets too. In the UK you are lucky if a shop attendant looks up to serve you without a scowl, where as here you are greeted with a smile and asked if you need any help. Today as I wandered around I found that people are quite happy to stop and help (either when I was lost, or wanted a photo taking...!) and are just SO much friendlier. It is a shame we don't have that in England as it just puts everyone in a better mood. Speaking of lightening the mood I was cheered up by Harry yesterday when I was giving him his bath and he pointed to his willy and loudly announced "MINE"! Yes, I thought, and lets keep it that way for as long as possible...

So here I am... Spending the summer in Chantilly, Virginia. I have many reasons for running away and hope to do exactly what I shouldn't -ignore them and hope they will have gone away by the time I return... Sensible? Rational? I think not. But it is my answer and I am sticking to it!

I have been here just over a week and am loving it so far. I have already met so many great people and got some great memories to bring home. I am working for an English family as an aupair which is hard work but generally good fun. So far I have been camping in West Virginia, spent copious hours at the pool and managed to escape for one night out before heading back to reality!

Camping was really good fun. We went with another family who were so nice and friendly, I am really glad to have met them. Though I was also majorly jealous of their bilingual-ness, even the 2 year old could switch as though it was nothing... On the journey there it was confirmed to me that young children really do say the funniest things -Olivia (aged 4) was looking out of the window when she spotted a graveyard, "what that for mummy?" she asked. "Well what do you think?" was the reply, "Ummm, football?" guessed Olivia completely seriously! Good try I suppose...! She also announced she no longer wanted to share a tent with me as Amy had told her I snored and therefore there was no longer an argument and Amy was allowed to share with me... I thought this was rather crafty considering Amy is only 6?!

Yesterday was my day off but I went to the pool with the kids anyway and I couldn't help noticing that a little like how dogs are like their owners, aupairs are like their 'owners'. It is hard to explain without sounding rude... although the family we were with are lovely (I cannot emphasize this enough) both the mother and their aupair Gertruda are a little... well, frumpy. And without sounded too big headed.... Andrea and I are much more, how to put it, well young I guess?! Both in our small bikinis (while the other mother and Gertruda basically supported diving suits) we couldn't have been more opposite from Gertruda and Co...

Enough anecdotes for one day...
